Home for the Holidays

My brother and I spent about 6 days at my parents home around Christmas and we had such a great time. We saw some friends we hadn't seen for awhile and it was great hanging out with them. We also had a lot of fun at the family get togethers. The time went way to fast and neither of us were ready to head back to our place when Sunday came. Sure hope we can go home again real soon.

Home For Christmas

My brother and I pulled in at our parents home about 2:00 a.m. We drove through some kind of nasty weather but it was so worth getting home. We will be home till Sunday and it's so nice. Mom is going to fix my favorite food tonight which is tacos. It will be a good week at home.

My brother starts his new job at the casino tonight. He is going to be a security officer there. As he is showing up to work I will be ready to go home. It's kind of cool working at the same place. I hope he likes his job and that everything goes well for him.

It has been so amazing how God has been working in my life. The answered prayers and the sense of God around me. I have been stressing about a couple of classes and lately I haven't because I feel how God is taking that away from me and is working things out in my favor. Finals

It has been a very intense couple of weeks with school. I have finals this week and am really needing all the prayers I can get. I've always struggled in math and that is one class I have been fighting with. I have so many people praying for me and I truly believe God is with me in this. Yesterday I started worrying in class and I felt the warmth of Jesus' arms around me and it calmed me down. I am so ready for our Christmas break and can't wait till it's here.

Slight Accident

Yesterday it was snowing which in turn made it pretty slick. I was heading across a bridge and lost control of my car and it spun around and slammed into the curb on the side of the road. So my brother and I had to stay at my Uncle's house so that we could get it fixed today. Anyway, we got it fixed and we are safely home now.

Healthy Finally

I am feeling so much better today. I woke up and could tell I was on the mend. I got myself ready for school and went to class. I had missed almost a week. I'm still weak in my body but I know in a day or so that should be better too. Thank you, Jesus, for healing my body.

Christmas Lights

I love Christmas lights on houses. When I was young my parents took my brother and I around on an evening close to Christmas and we would drive and drive to see all the Christmas lights on display.
It was so cool. I like it too when my dad puts light on our home and garage. I recently saw a video that showed a beautiful home and yard decorated in different colored lights. As Amazing Grace played the lights danced with the music. It was quite a site.

Denver Restaurants

I have been to Denver, Colorado with my parents a couple of times. That is one cool city. I love seeing the Rockie Mountains, it is so beautiful. Denver is a booming town. Still Sick

I have missed so much school and work because I have been sick so long. I went back to the doctor today and he ran some tests on me to make sure I didn't have mono. Praise the Lord that came back good and he did say he could see some improvement and that because I was so extremely run down that it could take awhile to get better. So thankfully I have 4 more days off before I go back to work and he said it was up to me when I should start attending classes again. I'm just glad that I am starting to see baby steps in my improving health.

Tired and Sick

It seems like since I started my new job I am getting sick too much. I am way too tired with going to school and then working at night. It has really taken a toll on my body. I sure hope I can catch up on some sleep this weekend with not having to work and no school. I had to work two nights this past week and it was not good. I was so light headed that I thought I was going to fall over several times. Today I seem to be doing better so maybe I am on the mend now.

Don't you just love it when you really don't have a lot of money and you go into a store and find really discounted items. That happened to me yesterday. I found two shirts and together they only cost me $3. Then I found another item for $4. It was great! I haven't been able to shop for quite awhile because I have been unemployed but I just happen to have a few dollars and had to spend it on these bargains. It felt good.

Today is the big Election Day! So who will it be, Obama or McCain?
I have a very strong feeling that it will be Obama because so many people keep saying they are tired of Bush and they seem to be thinking that McCain is going to be a repeat of Bush. I don't know.
I feel a lot of what goes on in this country is because of congress and shouldn't be fully blamed on Bush. That's just my opinion.

Tests

Yesterday I had a test in one of my classes and it was so hard I know I didn't do well. It basically about ruined my whole day. There has been times when it has been so cold and the lines of people go the length of the parking lots. It can be pretty crazy and then when the store opens the doors it gets really bad. People push and shove to make there way in. It is so nice to know that a person does not need to do that anymore.

Job

Well I got through the orientation. It finished up today and I start my job on Saturday. It is kind of nice because I will work 4 days on and then have 4 days off. I have to work 6 hours which won't be bad. I am thinking this will be a good job and shouldn't be too tough to do.

The last couple of days I have been sick. I have all the sinus garbage going on so I missed a couple of days of school. Appaloosa

On Saturday my parents were here visiting and took my brother and I to the movie Appaloosa. I have to say that I loved it. I know when I am sitting in a theater and am so into the movie that I forget that I am in the theater that the movie has to be pretty good. The characters were great and so was the story line. Not everyone in my family agreed with me but I know when it comes out on dvd I will be buying it.

New Job

Yesterday I got a call saying I got the job at the casino. It has been about month almost since I had my interview. I had pretty much given up hope that I was going to get the job. Job Interviews

Do you ever go into an interview with confidence and feeling positive through the whole thing? When you leave you feel that you are the right one for the job and you get that sense that the interview went great and you are sure you are going to get called for the job? That happened to me not too long ago. I felt confident that they would hire me and it has been 3 weeks and haven't heard a thing. It really is a let down and I do wish employers would take the time to call each person they interview to let them know either way if they got the job or not.

The Vikings game on Sunday was a close one. They were behind most of the game and then pulled it off at the end. It was looking very grim and I got pretty excited when they finally won the game. There was a time during the game when the Viking fans were booing their team and that makes me mad when they do that. No matter how the the team is playing the fans need to back them up with support.

My mom will celebrate a special birthday this year. She is turning 50 this year. I think it would be cool if my dad bought her a piece of jewelry. I watched a message on the Internet today that really opened my eyes to how easy it is to let evil spirits enter our homes. When parents are fighting and cursing that is a welcome gate to Satan's demons. When there is pornography, foul music, television shows and movies that are not appropriate that are in the home is also a welcome gate for evil to enter. Alcohol and drugs also make a way for evil to enter. We as Christians need to not only have church at church but we need to have church in our homes. I received an email a little while back with some horrific pictures of devastation that Hurricane Ike caused. I felt so bad for the people in that area because of all the mess they have to deal with. It blows my mind to see what a force of nature such as a hurricane can do to a city. I live in a state that has it's share of tornadoes and they are pretty devastating too so I can really understand in some ways what these people are going through.

New Suit

A couple of weeks ago when my grandma passed away my dad and mom took my brother and I shopping to buy a new suit. I haven't had a suit since I was a little boy. It is nice now to have one for special times and it was very nice to have one to wear at my grandma's funeral. My brother and I were pallbearers so it was nice to be more dressed up. Family and friends said we looked like a couple of gangstas.

Well, it is that time when my parents have to take down their pool.

Camping

When I was younger we use to go camping. My parents bought a cool camper trailer that had a separate bedroom for them and my brother and I would have the rest of it for us so that we could stay up late. We use to bring movies along and watch them till we fell asleep. Many times in the evenings my family would go inside the camper and we would play UNO and if we didn't do that we would sit out by the campfire and make smores and sit around and relax. During the day we would go swimming if there was a lake or do some hiking or biking. We loved camping and my family made lots of fun memories together.

Fall Leaves

I've been noticing that last couple of weeks that the leaves are starting to turn colors and the crops are drying up in the fields. I guess it is that time after all I think the first day of fall is on Monday. It just doesn't seem possible. It hardly felt like we had a summer. Oh well, time marches on.

Birthday

My brother's birthday is next Wednesday. He will be 23. We are going home this weekend to celebrate. It has been a few weeks since we have been home so we are both really looking forward to it.
My mom always fixes our favorite foods so we eat really well and we will get to see some of our friends that we haven't seen for awhile.
It should be a good time and it sounds like the weather is going to be perfect.

I really don't have any kind of special collection of anything. My brother collects Starwars stuff and has quite a collection. Math Class

I was pretty freaked out when I first started classes this fall. I heard that I was going to have to take another math class and math is not one of my strong points. Ghost Hunting

My friends and I have done a lot of ghost hunting this summer so far. We like to go hang out in cemeteries and we've checked out an abandoned school. It gets freaky sometimes but we have a lot of fun doing it. We know that we have seen some things that have been pretty scary. The last ghost hunt we did was we stayed at a house that belongs to a woman who works with my mom. She said some of her family have heard and seen things in this house. No one lives in it right now.

I know of some people I went to high school with that chose cosmetology for their career choice. They are still going through the school process but will soon be looking for a beauty job. The Courts

Happiness is Pets

Happiness is Pets, don't you think? Pets are so loyal and loving. They are there for you in good times and bad. They fill a lonely place in our life when no one else is around. My grandma recently passed away and my Uncle lives alone. He said he would be fine to go home alone because he really isn't alone, he lives with his dog, Sam. Sam is his best buddy and he wouldn't want to be without him.
Pets are wonderful for elderly people, also. They are there to help them feel love and if they are lonely they know they have their pet with them to fill that void.

Jobs

When I started school I thought I had a job in place at the school I am attending. I have been trying and trying to reach my boss and he does not return my emails or calls. It is quite frustrating because I could use this job and a paycheck. I guess I will continue to look for another job and we'll see what happens to this one.

I am a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and my dad is too. They played yesterday and the game was so close. The big game between the Hawks and the Cyclones was today. I'm a fan of the Hawks and was so glad to see they had won the game. Everyone gets so excited about this game each year and there is so much about it on television. I'm just glad the Hawks finally beat the Cyclones. This is a good day in football.

I watched Shawn Johnson on television the other day. She was in Des Moines and their was a huge crowd at the Wells Fargo Arena. She seems like such a down to earth person. She couldn't get over that all those people were there for her. She is such a tiny little person and an amazing athlete. It is so great that she has come from my home state of Iowa.

My brother recently wrote scripts for two short films. They are called All Alone and All Alone 2. The first one has been entered into a contest and I would love to see it win. The second one was finished last week and comments are that it is better then the first one and that one is good. I play the scary guy in the movie. Great American Seafood Cook Off

I love trying new recipes. It is fun to try and bring together spices and flavorings in dishes that I enjoy. One of my favorite things to do is use the outdoor barbecue grill. So, if I get an opportunity to cook on it I will. I really like fish, especially a good piece of orange roughy. When making it on the grill I like to coat my fish in cornflake crumbs then put melted butter over the top of it. I then season it with a little salt and pepper and some onion powder. I like to slice in some potatoes with it and also put melted butter and onion powder on them. I then wrap it all up in a strong piece of foil and cook it slowly on low heat on the barbecue grill. When it is done it is so moist and flaky and wow, is it good.
I think about the Great American Seafood Cook off and wonder what kind of recipes are used at this event. I wonder if other people would enjoy my recipe for how I like to cook fish.
The fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off will be held Aug 2-3 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. One chef and one state will go away with the title of King of American Seafood.
Governor Jindal challenges all states to send them their best chef and most delicious domestic sustainable seafood. Out of 14 chefs only 5 will remain as finalists. For the ticket price of $10 the public, 18 years and older are invited to cheer on the chefs as they compete against each other. This sounds like a really fun event and would be interesting to see what recipes these chefs come up with and who will win.

I strive daily to live my life with all the 9 fruits of the spirit. I want people to see in my life that Christ lives in me. It isn't always easy and I sometimes fail but I am thankful that I serve a forgiving God.

Step Brothers

Who doesn't like Will Farrell, I am a huge fan. I think I have seen just about every movie he has made plus own a few on dvd. He is coming out with another great one called Step Brothers. John C. Reilly joins him in this comedy. They teamed up in the movie Talladega Nights.
Will Farrell plays a 40 year old man who still lives with his mother (Mary Steenburgen). Reilly also plays a middle aged man who is as infantile as Will Farrell's character. Reilly also sponges off his father(Richard Jenkins) as he still lives at home.
Steenburgen and Jenkins fall in love and decided to move in together. That then leads to Farrell and Reilly having to share a room together. The comedy really begins. You can about imagine what all happens. It looks like a great movie and I love comedies like this one. I will definitely try to catch this one. It opens in theaters July 25th.

My brother and I went out yesterday to do some job hunting. We picked up several applications so we will be busy filling them out. We are sure hoping to get a hold of a job soon before other kids roll into town for school. This is a bigger city then what we use to live in so I am hoping we have better success.

Settling in

Well, I think our apartment is looking pretty good. Most of the unpacking is done and now it's time to job hunt. My brother worked hard yesterday getting the living room in order and he finished unpacking the kitchen.

Sometimes it is real easy to think of things to post about and other times I can't think of a thing. I think that is where I am right now. I going blank. I try and write about what's going on in my life but there really hasn't been a lot happening lately. I went to orientation last week with my parents to the college I will be attending for the next two years. That went pretty well, I for the most part was bored with the whole thing but at least I wasn't sitting at home being bored and we did get to stay in a pretty amazing motel. It was a suite and it would have been nice to stay longer if we would have had the time and of course money.=)

Offshore Drilling - You want it?

My brother and I are heading to Villisca where we will spend the night in a haunted house with some friends of ours. A family was murdered there several years ago and spirits have been seen and felt inside this house. We went last summer and it's true, it is haunted. We have a little bit larger group going this year and it should be interesting. We are Christians and we definitely pray over ourselves before, during and after this experience. This house is one of the top ten scariest places around.

We finally got to go to one of the figure 8 races that is held in the town where my parents live. It's the first one this summer and probably the last because we will be moving in about a week and a half. So, the race was underway and it was going great when all the sudden we get a thunderstorm with big drops of rain. Because of that they had to stop the race. We finally got to the races and then had to sit through that. Oh well, we still made it fun.

Cabelas

My family and I went to Minneapolis for the weekend and on our way up there we stopped at Cabelas. Cabelas is an amazing store. There are all kinds of things for people who love to hunt and fish. You can also find items like regular clothing, food items or things to decorate your home with. We decided to eat lunch there and I had a huge buffalo burger. It was so good. I had never eaten there before so that was kind of fun to do. If you ever get a chance to stop at a Cabelas you won't be disappointed. There are lots of stuffed real animals in displays, it is pretty cool.

Storms

The other night we had some really intense weather. There were a few tornadoes and funnel clouds spotted around where my parents live and where I live. I went outside and was taking some video when I saw a funnel cloud coming down and was expanding. It was really something to see. It then went back up into the clouds, thank the good Lord. The storm clouds were unbelievable. It was just fascinating to see. We received so much rain that many of the roads in the city where I live were flooded. It was one crazy night.

Lately I've been going to Dolliver with my brother and some friends. Dolliver is a great park with lots of trails, a river running through and a camp ground. It's a huge park with lots of trees and hills. We like going out there toward evening and taking long walks and while we do that we make up stories to try and freak each other out. It's pretty fun and I need to get out there again soon.

John Cena

I am a huge fan of the WWE. John Cena is one of the best wrestlers out there. I have had the chance to meet him on a couple of different occasions. John Cena is an American actor, hip hop musician, and wrestler. He wrestles for WWE and performs on their Raw brand. In his career with the WWE, Cena has been a three time WWE Champion.
Outside his career as a wrestler he has release a rap album called "You Can't See Me" and has starred in the movie "The Marine". He has also made special appearances on television programs such as Deal or No Deal and Madtv and other shows. He is an awesome wrestler and person.

Adventureland

Adventureland is an amusement park in Des Moines, Iowa. Next week I am going with my cousins and a few friends for a day. We are hoping the rain that is in the forecast holds off. It's been a couple of years since I've been there. It seems they try to add something new each year and this year they have added a water park. I'm not sure how big it is but if it is hot it will sure feel good and hopefully cut down on the length of the lines for the water rides such as the log ride. It will be great to get away for a day and just have some fun.

Scarface

I am a huge fan of Scarface. I have posters, mugs, and shirts with Scarface on them. Anytime I can find something new and different with Scarface on it I want to buy it. I ask for things with him on it for my birthday and Christmas. I love the movies. He was the ultimate gangster.

I love Christmas time because so many stores have some really great sales. Black Friday is my favorite time to shop. They offer awesome deals in their black friday sales. It is the best day of the year because you never see these items as low as they are that day, any other time of the year. When the Black Friday ads come out I sit and make a list for myself and my family. I don't have to wait till Thanksgiving Day to see the ads because I go to www.black-friday.net. For over a week now I have not been feeling well. My sinuses are full and it makes me cough and makes my head hurt. I finally got fed up with it and went to the doctor. He said I definitely have sinusitis. He put me on Amoxicillin and I hope it gets to work fast. I'm tired of being sick.

Wrestling

We are heading down today to see another wrestling event held in Des Moines. It is going to be another great day to be out. It sounds like the weather is going to be a little cooler but we don't mind that. I'm hoping we can see some of the pros and get some autographs today. In the past we have been lucky enough to get lots of pictures and autographs so I hope we are lucky today. This seems really strange to be attending 2 wrestling events so close together but it is awesome.

Since I graduated from high school and now junior college I don't and won't get to see a lot of my friends as often. Wrestling Events

This coming Sunday my brother and I with a couple of friends are going to a huge wrestling event. This will be filmed for payperview. I recently found out that it is going to be a cage match and since I was a little boy I've wanted to see one of those. Then on Tuesday we will go to another one and this one will be televised. It has been over a year ago since we have been able to attend a wrestling event and now we get to go to two in one week. I can't wait.

Last Day

This was my last day at ICCC. I had to finals to take and now I'm free. What a wonderful feeling to be done at this school. I can't believe how fast this school year has gone. I'm sure it had a lot to do with how much better my living arrangements were. I'm really looking forward to summer now.

I am not very old but I definitely have experienced challenges already in my life. One that I can think of is when my parents insisted at the age of 14 that I apply for a job at the new Pizza Ranch that was opening up. Of course, I was alittle apprehensive and nervous. But I did put in my application and sure enough I was called to start working there. At first, I'm pretty sure I had doubts inside myself as to if I could do this job. The criticisms I had to endure through the learning process tended to draw me down but the challenge to learn this job and do it well was strong. I ended up working there for over 5 years. I later became a night supervisor so the challenge made me strive to work hard and got me to climb the ladder somewhat. Challenges in life are good. We may not always feel that way but they can make us improve in ourselves and become stronger individuals.

Finals

This week I am having to take my finals. Normally I don't have school on Tuesday but tomorrow I have finals most of the day. It will be so nice when they are done and then on Saturday I graduate. I can then look forward to moving on to a bigger school and that's exciting. I can't believe I have 2 years behind me already. I don't know where the time has gone.

I was a homeschooled child from Kindergarten till 8th grade. It was the best and once we started public school I really missed being at home. The school day was much shorter and we didn't have to eat those nasty school lunches. We also didn't have to put up with the bulling that goes on so much in school these days. My mom did a great job at teaching us and we did very well at learning. I have no regrets about being homeschooled, only fond memories.

This type of music probably isn't for a some people because it is pretty hard stuff but I love it and I love the lyrics that they sing. They are positive and give praise to the Lord.
