Hurricane Ike

I received an email a little while back with some horrific pictures of devastation that Hurricane Ike caused. I felt so bad for the people in that area because of all the mess they have to deal with. It blows my mind to see what a force of nature such as a hurricane can do to a city. I live in a state that has it's share of tornadoes and they are pretty devastating too so I can really understand in some ways what these people are going through.

New Suit

A couple of weeks ago when my grandma passed away my dad and mom took my brother and I shopping to buy a new suit. I haven't had a suit since I was a little boy. It is nice now to have one for special times and it was very nice to have one to wear at my grandma's funeral. My brother and I were pallbearers so it was nice to be more dressed up. Family and friends said we looked like a couple of gangstas.

Pool

Well, it is that time when my parents have to take down their pool.
I wonder if it will be down by the time we get home this weekend. I'm sure my mom hasn't been in it lately cause the nights have been pretty chilly and that makes for very cold water. I'm sure she misses it already. Oh well, there's always next summer.

Camping

When I was younger we use to go camping. My parents bought a cool camper trailer that had a separate bedroom for them and my brother and I would have the rest of it for us so that we could stay up late. We use to bring movies along and watch them till we fell asleep. Many times in the evenings my family would go inside the camper and we would play UNO and if we didn't do that we would sit out by the campfire and make smores and sit around and relax. During the day we would go swimming if there was a lake or do some hiking or biking. We loved camping and my family made lots of fun memories together.

Fall Leaves

I've been noticing that last couple of weeks that the leaves are starting to turn colors and the crops are drying up in the fields. I guess it is that time after all I think the first day of fall is on Monday. It just doesn't seem possible. It hardly felt like we had a summer. Oh well, time marches on.

Birthday

My brother's birthday is next Wednesday. He will be 23. We are going home this weekend to celebrate. It has been a few weeks since we have been home so we are both really looking forward to it.
My mom always fixes our favorite foods so we eat really well and we will get to see some of our friends that we haven't seen for awhile.
It should be a good time and it sounds like the weather is going to be perfect.

Cold Stone

Halloween

I love this time of year. The stores are filling up with fall decorations, Halloween costumes and candy. As a Christian, I probably shouldn't like Halloween but I do because I like to make our place look cool and spooky. We don't do anything with devils and demons because that is just stupid. My brother and I like walking through the Halloween sections and stores to check out the cool costumes.

I really don't have any kind of special collection of anything. My brother collects Starwars stuff and has quite a collection. My dad has some pretty cool old coins that I enjoy looking at but he doesn't have a big collection of them. I think if I could I would be interested in collecting rare coins. Math Class

I was pretty freaked out when I first started classes this fall. I heard that I was going to have to take another math class and math is not one of my strong points. Surprisingly enough, my instructor is awesome. He is in the habit of asking several times during class if everyone understands. I am doing remarkable well and that is a huge relief to me.

Ghost Hunting

My friends and I have done a lot of ghost hunting this summer so far. We like to go hang out in cemeteries and we've checked out an abandoned school. It gets freaky sometimes but we have a lot of fun doing it. We know that we have seen some things that have been pretty scary. The last ghost hunt we did was we stayed at a house that belongs to a woman who works with my mom. She said some of her family have heard and seen things in this house. No one lives in it right now.

Beauty Jobs

I know of some people I went to high school with that chose cosmetology for their career choice. They are still going through the school process but will soon be looking for a beauty job. The Courts

In past summers the major hang out place is the courts. Many high school and some college kids from around the area gather there and either just hang out or play a lot of basketball. It's been a good time and we have stayed there till early in the morning. When my brother and I go home to visit we usually go to the courts and hang out with people we haven't seen for awhile.

Happiness is Pets

Happiness is Pets, don't you think? Pets are so loyal and loving. They are there for you in good times and bad. They fill a lonely place in our life when no one else is around. My grandma recently passed away and my Uncle lives alone. He said he would be fine to go home alone because he really isn't alone, he lives with his dog, Sam. Sam is his best buddy and he wouldn't want to be without him.
Pets are wonderful for elderly people, also. They are there to help them feel love and if they are lonely they know they have their pet with them to fill that void.

Jobs

When I started school I thought I had a job in place at the school I am attending. I have been trying and trying to reach my boss and he does not return my emails or calls. It is quite frustrating because I could use this job and a paycheck. I guess I will continue to look for another job and we'll see what happens to this one.

Minnesota Vikings

I am a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and my dad is too. They played yesterday and the game was so close. My dad couldn't get it on his tv so I kept calling him with updates on how the game was going. It came down to the wire and I thought it was going to go into overtime. The other team, the Colts, kicked a field goal and won the game by 3 points. That was not cool. I was pretty disappointed.

Iowa Hawkeyes

The big game between the Hawks and the Cyclones was today. I'm a fan of the Hawks and was so glad to see they had won the game. Everyone gets so excited about this game each year and there is so much about it on television. I'm just glad the Hawks finally beat the Cyclones. This is a good day in football.

Labor Day Weekend

It was nice to be home for Labor Day weekend but when a person has no income it can get long and boring. I basically just sat in my room and was on my computer a lot.
